Admissions Requirements
GPA
It is expected that applicants to this program will have a minimum GPA of 2.7 (A = 4.0).
Coursework
All applicants must have transfer coursework equivalent to the University of Illinois courses listed below completed prior to application. Courses in progress do not satisfy this requirement.
- ECON 102, Microeconomic Principles (minimum grade of B)
- ECON 103, Macroeconomic Principles (minimum grade of B)
- ECON 202, Economic Statistics I (minimum grade of B)
- ECON 203, Economic Statistics II (minimum grade of B)
- MATH 220, Calculus (minimum grade of B-)
Please note that the following courses will not be permitted as substitutions for Illinois coursework:
- ECON 101, Introduction to Economics for ECON 102 or ECON 103
- MATH 234, Calculus for Business I for MATH 220
Admissions Recommendations
Coursework
Although it isn’t required that you do so in order to be admitted, we also highly recommend that you complete transfer coursework equivalent to the following University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign courses before or during the term you’re submitting your application:
- CS 101, Intro Computing: Engrg & Sci
- CS 105, Intro Computing: Non-Tech
- CS 124, Intro to Computer Science I
- MATH 225, Introductory Matrix Theory
- MATH 231, Calculus II
- Composition I
- Common options include RHET 105 (requires a two-course English composition sequence at most schools) and transfer coursework articulated as UCI and UCII. See the Illinois General Education website for a complete list of options.
Graduation Requirements
To graduate, students must complete a minimum of 124 semester hours of credit. Of those hours, at least 45 semester hours of credit must be completed at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, including at least 21 hours at the 300- or 400-level. A minimum of 40 total credit hours of upper-division coursework, generally at the 300- or 400-level, is required for the degree.
General Education Courses
Included in our graduation requirements are general education (gen ed) courses. These classes allow you to gain and use broad knowledge beyond the specialized learning you’ll do through your major. Learn more about our general education requirements. You may be able to use Transferology to find gen ed courses that will transfer over from your institution to Illinois.
Language Other than English
Although this program doesn’t require you to complete our language graduation requirement for admission, we strongly encourage you do so before transferring.
