Computer Science + Linguistics

While Computer Science + X programs are open for intercollegiate/interdepartmental transfer, students who are not directly admitted to a CS + X major must be admitted to a CS + X major by the student’s sixth term of enrollment, including terms completed at other institutions of post-secondary education. If you have questions about this policy, or the intercollegiate/interdepartmental transfer process, please consult the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. More information about all disciplines can be found on the CS + X website.

Transfer applicants who have completed more than 6 semesters or 80 hours of coursework are subject to an additional review. Priority is given to students who can complete degree requirements within a total of ten semesters in college (not counting summer sessions). Applicants should also have a demonstrated interest in Linguistics.

It is highly recommended that an equivalent transfer course to CS 173, Discrete Structures, as well as an equivalent transfer course to MATH 241, Calculus II for those planning to specialize in Machine Learning, be completed prior to transfer; however, transfer will be considered without completion of equivalent courses.

We also highly recommend that you meet the following criteria before transferring into this program, although it isn’t required that you do so in order to be admitted.
