Majors

Individual Plans of Study

We offer a unique curricular program called Individual Plans of Study (IPS) that assists motivated students to design personalized and innovative programs of study under the guidance of faculty sponsors. As an alternative to a conventional major, IPS features sponsorship by a faculty advisor and program approval by the IPS Advisory Committee. IPS students must meet the regular LAS requirements in Composition, General Education, Language Requirement, and advanced hours. You can learn more about IPS on our website.

James Scholar Honors Program

Transfer students who want to be considered for self-nomination into our James Scholar Honors Program may apply from June 1 through June 30 on an annual basis. All applicants must have earned a cumulative transfer grade point average of 3.3 or higher to be considered. You can learn more about our James Scholar Honors Program on our website.

Second Bachelor’s Degree

Because of enrollment constraints, second bachelor’s degree applicants must have demonstrated academic success in the curriculum to which they apply beyond our requirements for admission. Demonstrated academic success includes successful completion of courses in the discipline or courses that are directly applicable to major requirements. You must also submit a rationale for the second bachelor’s degree in the context of prior or planned degrees, your current occupation, and/or your career goals.
