Our Gies College of Business is home to approximately 3,100 undergraduate students, 11 undergraduate majors, and 3 minors. Admission requirements are the same for all Gies undergraduate majors. Transfer admission into Gies is very competitive based on the number of spaces available, the number of applications received, and the strength of the applicant pool, so it’s in your best interest to review all information carefully to build the strongest application.
Majors
Following are the Gies Business majors available to transfer students. Note that you can only choose one major on your application; however, you may be able to pursue multiple majors within Gies once admitted. You can discuss your options with a Gies academic advisor upon enrollment.
- Accountancy
- Finance
- Information Systems
- Management
- Marketing
- Operations Management
- Strategy, Innovation & Entrepreneurship
- Supply Chain Management – If you are interested in pursuing Supply Chain Management (SCM) as a major, you should first apply for admission into one of our other majors. Once you join Gies Business, you’ll have the opportunity to apply to the SCM major during your sophomore or junior year. The application is straightforward, and admission is based on an approval process designed to help match students with the program that best fits their goals. We encourage interested students to apply as they explore their academic and career interests.
Please be aware that you cannot list Gies Business majors as a second choice on your application.
Advising Opportunities
As you’re preparing to apply for transfer into Gies Business, we encourage you to do the following:
- Work closely with your academic advisor at your current institution to learn more about transfer requirements and course registration.
- Reach out to Gies Undergraduate Admissions if you have questions. While we cannot provide a full degree audit or a review of all potential courses, we are happy to assist you when possible. Direct contact with Gies Admissions will be the best way to get your questions answered.
- Attend a transfer information session. Gies offers admissions meetings to discuss requirements as well as academic programs, resources, and opportunities. Attendance is neither required nor a factory in a student’s admission decision. You can view and sign up for any of our Gies Business visit options on our website.
James Scholar Honors Program
Students who are in an honors program or society at their current institution and are directly admitted to Gies will be invited to apply to our James Scholars Honors Program after admission decisions are released. Students should note their honors program or society as an honor on their application.
