GPA
It is expected that applicants to this program will have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (A = 4.0).
Coursework
Students With 45 or More Transferable Credit Hours at Time of Application
- MCB 244, Human Anatomy & Physiology I and MCB 245, Human Anatomy & Physiology Lab I
- MCB 246, Human Anatomy & Physiology II and MCB 247, Human Anat & Physiol Lab II
- or 2 semesters of human-cadaver-based anatomy/physiology coursework
Admissions Recommendations
Coursework
Although it isn’t required that you do so in order to be admitted, we also recommend that you complete transfer coursework equivalent to the following University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign courses before or during the term you’re submitting your application:
- MCB 244, Human Anatomy & Physiology I and MCB 245, Human Anatomy & Physiology Lab I
- MCB 246, Human Anatomy & Physiology II and MCB 247, Human Anat & Physiol Lab II
- or 2 semesters of human-cadaver-based anatomy/physiology coursework
- Composition I
- Common options include RHET 105 (requires a two-course English composition sequence at most schools) and transfer coursework articulated as UCI and UCII. See the Illinois General Education website for a complete list of options.
- Language Other Than English
- Progress in General Education coursework
Applicants are strongly encouraged to complete equivalents to MCB 244, MCB 245, MCB 246, and MCB 247 prior to transferring. These courses are required to progress into upper-level coursework in Kinesiology.
Strong science coursework is critical for Kinesiology majors. Science coursework and academic progress in this coursework is an important consideration for admission into Kinesiology due to the nature of this degree.
Students interested pursuing a pre-health plan are encouraged to complete transfer coursework equivalent to the following University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign courses before or during the term they’re submitting an application based on their area of interest:
- CHEM 102, General Chemistry I and CHEM 103, General Chemistry Lab I
- CHEM 104, General Chemistry II and CHEM 105, General Chemistry Lab II
- IB 150, Organismal & Evolutionary Biol and IB 151, Organismal & Evol Biol Lab
- MCB 100, Introductory Microbiology and MCB 101, Intro Microbiology Lab
- MCB 150, Molec & Cellular Basis of Life and MCB 151, Molec & Cellular Laboratory
- PHYS 101, College Physics: Mech & Heat
- PHYS 102, College Physics: E&M & Modern
- PSYC 100, Into Psych
- SOC 100, Introduction to Sociology
Students interested in Physical Education Teacher Licensure are encouraged to express this interest in their application essay and share any experiences they have related to their career goal.
Graduation Requirements
To graduate, you must complete at least 45 credit hours at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, including a minimum of 40 hours of upper-level coursework, generally at the 300- or 400-level.
General Education Courses
Included in our graduation requirements are general education (gen ed) courses. These classes allow you to gain and use broad knowledge beyond the specialized learning you’ll do through your major. Learn more about our general education requirements. You may be able to use Transferology to find gen ed courses that will transfer over from your institution to Illinois.
Language Other than English
Although this program doesn’t require you to complete our language graduation requirement for admission, we strongly encourage you do so before transferring.
