Admissions Requirements

We highly recommend you consult with the Applied Health Sciences advising staff before applying to transfer to this program. The Interdisciplinary Health Sciences program is not a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. Transfer applicants interested in completing a BSN degree are encouraged to consider direct admission to a BSN program.

GPA

For Spring 2025 applicants, it is expected that applicants with fewer than 45 graded, transferable credit hours at time of application will have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (A = 4.0). It is expected that applicants with more than 45 graded, transferable credit hours at time of application will have a minimum GPA of 2.8 (A = 4.0).

For Fall 2025 and future term applicants, it is expected that applicants to this program will have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (A = 4.0).

Admissions Recommendations

Coursework

Although it isn’t required that you do so in order to be admitted, we also recommend that you complete transfer coursework equivalent to the following University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign courses before or during the term you’re submitting your application:

  • CHLH 101, Introduction to Public Health
    • or HK 111, Introduction to Public Health
  • FSHN 120, Contemporary Nutrition (if an equivalent is offered by the transfer institution)
  • PSYC 100, Intro Psych
  • RHET 105, Writing & Research (requires a two-course English composition sequence at most schools)
  • STAT 100, Statistics
  • Language Other Than English

Students interested pursuing a pre-health plan are encouraged to complete transfer coursework equivalent to the following University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign courses before or during the term they’re submitting an application based on their area of interest:

  • CHEM 102, General Chemistry I and CHEM 103, General Chemistry Lab I
  • CHEM 104, General Chemistry II and CHEM 105, General Chemistry Lab II
  • IB 150, Organismal & Evolutionary Biol and IB 151, Organismal & Evol Biol Lab
  • MCB 100, Introductory Microbiology and MCB 101, Intro Microbiology Lab
  • MCB 150, Molec & Cellular Basis of Life and MCB 151, Molec & Cellular Laboratory
  • MCB 244, Human Anatomy & Physiology I and MCB 245, Human Anat & Physiol Lab I
  • MCB 246, Human Anatomy & Physiology II and MCB 247, Human Anat & Physiol Lab II
  • PHYS 101, College Physics: Mech & Heat

Graduation Requirements

To graduate all students are required to complete at least 45 semester hours of credit at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. At least 21 of these credit hours must be at the 300 or 400 level.

General Education Courses

Included in our graduation requirements are general education (gen ed) courses. These classes allow you to gain and use broad knowledge beyond the specialized learning you’ll do through your major. Learn more about our general education requirements. You may be able to use Transferology to find gen ed courses that will transfer over from your institution to Illinois.

Language Other than English

Although this program doesn’t require you to complete our language graduation requirement for admission, we strongly encourage you do so before transferring.
